Their Story

After almost 20 years of marriage, Betsey and Rechaud have grown their family to six children after beginning their personal journey of foster care in 2013. With three little ones at home, they welcomed their oldest daughter into the family when she was 15. They then had another little guy through birth, and soon after welcomed their next oldest daughter when she was 18.

Although parenting has been the most rewarding experience of their lives, it also has been the most challenging. They quickly realized more than ever the difficulties and tendency towards exhaustion and isolation for foster and adoptive families, walking through trauma on a daily journey towards healing.

This part of their journey began in 2012, when the Lord opened a door to lead a newly formed non-profit to meet the needs of children in foster care.

During Betsey’s leadership as the Executive Director of the Foundation for Foster Children, the organization grew every year – from educational and enrichment support to 100 children per year to a more holistic approach supporting more than 1000 local children. And as a part-time missionary through CRU (formerly known as Campus Crusade for Christ), Rechaud led an outreach ministry at the RDV Sportsplex, connecting men with each other and with the Lord.

After watching churches struggle to obediently care for the “orphan” and learning of the FAM model from Promise 686 in 2018, Betsey and Rechaud felt the Lord call them to bring the FAM model to equip the Church in Central Florida. Humbled and excited, their desire is to come alongside the church to create care teams and response teams for as many families as possible.

In their personal time, they stay busy with our six children (and son in-love), ages 8 to 27 years old, and loving their two amazing grandbabies. They also serve on the Grace Kids team at the church where they call home, Grace Orlando.
