Cecilia’s story of caring with prayer
Cecilia is a mother and grandmother whose acts of caring for others are a reminder of how meeting families in their moment of crisis and loving them in the spirit of Jesus brings light and support to families. Cecilia has taken this calling to care for others and become her church’s Advocate/Point Person for their Family Advocacy Ministry using CarePortal.
At a conference in 2022, Cecilia and her husband heard about a platform called CarePortal. They were intrigued and decided to enroll to help and support families in crisis in their community. At that time, their role in CarePortal was to donate or fund the resources families needed, but they never could meet and personally connect with these families. By 2023, Cecilia and her husband hoped they could help bring CarePortal to their church, so they decided to talk with their pastor. Their church, Adoration Church, already had an active ministry supporting missionary families who travel abroad to serve and spread the truth and light of Christ. In December 2023, Adoration Church added CarePortal and has met the needs of families and children living near their church.
Cecilia’s desire to connect with families personally, to minister to them, support them, and bring them to God has been a life mission. The CarePortal platform offered an opportunity to do just that. Cecilia and her church had been diligently meeting the needs of families, but Cecilia’s desire to personally connect with a family seemed elusive. Many families were grateful for their support, but were not interested in prayer or other means of support. Cecilia shared this with the folks at C127, and the group prayed for God’s guidance, encouragement, and support to connect Cecilia with a family.
A few weeks later, Cecilia shared that she had responded to a request for cleaning supplies for a young mother and her sweet daughter. Since meeting that first request, Cecilia has become this young woman's strong support and mentor.
Cecilia didn't realize it was for the same family when another need was submitted for a toddler bed and bedding. When her church also decided to meet this need, Cecilia was so grateful that she and her church could help this young mother again. Cecilia involved the mother in selecting the bedding for the little girl, providing bedding with pink butterflies.
The mother shared that her daughter has been sleeping deeply since meeting the need for a toddler bed. Cecilia has prayed with this young mother, brought them Bibles, and exchanged texts with the mother, providing ongoing support and encouragement.
God established His church so we could grow together in His truth and serve one another.
We all have a deep desire to make a difference. We all want to connect and help others.
Cecilia exemplifies this calling.
